How It Works

1. The panel charges by day — a monocrystalline silicon panel on an adjustable mount feeds the 1,800mAh battery box. About 10 hours of direct sun fills it.
2. Or Type-C does it in five — plug the battery box into USB and it charges in roughly 5 hours, which is the answer to an overcast week rather than waiting on the weather.
3. The sensor switches it on at dusk — ambient light drops, the string comes on. No timer to set and no switch to reach.
4. The remote sets the rest — mode, dimming level and the sleep timer all run off the handset, and the string holds the setting rather than resetting every night.

How to Use

1. Pull the battery tab out of the remote — it ships with an insulating separator in place, and this is the number one reason a remote seems dead out of the box.
2. Site the panel where the sun is — stake it into the garden or use the wall bracket. North-facing catches the most sun through the day in Australia; west picks up the long afternoon.
3. Screw in the bulbs, then hang the string — each socket has a built-in hook. Work from the panel end so you don't run short at the far corner.
4. Let it charge one full day — then it comes on by itself that evening and every evening after.
Tip: hang it with a gentle sag between fixing points rather than pulled tight. Taut strings look severe, stress the wire, and catch the wind badly.

Care and Maintenance

• Wipe the panel — dust and bird mess on the panel face is the usual reason runtime drops off over a season. A dry cloth now and then is the whole job
• Rinse off salt near the coast — salt film builds up invisibly and cuts the charge well before the panel looks dirty
• Don't submerge it — IP44 covers rain and weather, not immersion. Keep the battery box off the ground where water pools
• Check the bulbs are seated — after a big blow, give any flickering bulb a nudge; nine times out of ten it's loose in the socket, not failed
• Store it dry off-season — coil it loosely rather than tight, and keep the bulbs in their sockets so they don't knock around
