Lighting a fence line usually means one of three bad options: trenching a cable, paying an electrician, or swapping batteries every few weeks. These solar fence lights need none of it. Each unit has its own panel, screws or sticks onto the surface in a couple of minutes, and then runs itself — on at dusk, off at dawn, every night, with nothing to switch and nothing to plug in.

How It Works

1. The panel charges by day — a 2V / 100mA amorphous silicon panel on the face of each unit converts daylight and stores it in the internal 1.2V AAA 600mAh NiMH battery.
2. The sensor reads the light level — a built-in sensor watches ambient light rather than running on a clock, so it tracks the changing sunset through the year by itself.
3. It switches on at dusk — when the level drops past the threshold, the LED comes on. No timer, no app, no switch.
4. It switches off at dawn — the sensor cuts the LED at first light and the panel starts charging again for the night ahead.

How to Use

1. Pick a north or west-facing surface — in Australia, north-facing gets the most sun through the day and west catches the long afternoon. A south-facing fence will charge poorly and run short.
2. Screw or stick it on — use the included screws into timber, masonry or composite, or an outdoor-grade adhesive where you don't want holes.
3. Space them evenly — measure the run and divide it rather than eyeballing. Uneven spacing is the difference between "lit fence" and "someone stuck lights on a fence".
4. Give it one full day before the first night — if they don't come on the first evening, that's almost always a flat battery out of the box rather than a fault.
Tip: mount at or just below eye level and aim the light down the surface. Pointed outward they glare at you; pointed down they light the fence.

Care and Maintenance

• Wipe the panel — dust, pollen and cobwebs on the panel face are the main reason these dim over a season. A dry cloth every few weeks is the whole job
• Rinse off salt near the coast — salt film builds up invisibly on the panel and cuts the charge long before the unit looks dirty
• No abrasive cleaners — scratching the panel surface permanently reduces how much light it takes in
• Check the adhesive ones after summer — heat and UV soften outdoor adhesive over time, so give stuck-on units a nudge at the end of the season
• Trim what grows over them — a creeper across the panel in spring will have them running flat by autumn
