Possums are protected. You can't trap one, you can't relocate one, and without a licence you can't legally do much at all except make your garden a less appealing place to be. That's what this does. A motion sensor catches movement up to 9 metres out, and the unit answers with a burst of high-frequency sound and a red and white flash — enough to interrupt an animal mid-raid and send it somewhere easier. How It Works

1. The sensor picks up movement — a 110° PIR sensor reads body heat across an arc reaching 8–9 metres, day or night.
2. Sound and light fire together — both horns emit high-frequency sound and the twin LEDs flash red and white. Mammals hear well above our range; the flash adds a visual startle on top.
3. The animal moves on — the aim is to interrupt the visit and make the spot less attractive than the neighbour's yard, not to harm anything.
4. It resets and recharges — back to standby once the zone is clear, with the solar panel charging through the day and USB available when the weather doesn't cooperate.

How to Use

1. Charge it fully by USB first — don't rely on the panel for the initial charge. Start it full.
2. Work out where the animal actually goes — droppings, chewed leaves, scratch marks on a beam. Point the unit at that, not at the middle of the yard.
3. Set the height to the animal — roughly knee height for possums, cats and foxes. Mounted too high it looks straight over them.
4. Angle the panel for sun — north-facing gets the most through the day in Australia. A unit in permanent shade will keep going flat.
5. Pick your gear — start on the band that matches your visitor, and if nothing changes after a week or two, try another. There's no single correct setting.
6. Move it every few weeks — this is the step most people skip and the reason most people say these stopped working. Shifting the position keeps it unpredictable.
Tip: one unit covers a 110° arc. An average back garden with two approach routes usually wants two, placed to cover the paths in rather than the open lawn.

Care and Maintenance

• Wipe the solar panel — dust, pollen and bird droppings on the panel are the usual reason the charge fades over a season
• Keep the sensor lens clear — a spider web or a leaf across the PIR window stops it triggering altogether, and there's no warning when it happens
• Trim what grows in front of it — foliage that fills out in spring will block both the sensor and the sound within a couple of months
• Don't hose it — IP44 handles rain, not a direct jet or submersion
• Check the gear dial after storms — it can be knocked off your setting by wind or a curious animal
• Top up by USB in winter — shorter days and low sun mean the panel may not keep up on its own
